Enigmatic Rant

New Photos

October 28, 2009 - 9:11 PM

Hey, all! I've recently been taking pics with my camera and I thought you would like to see what they turned out like. I really love close-up photography and have been using a few "screw-on" lenses that fit on the end of my fixed 50. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, and I'll probably print one of them. Let me know if you like one better than the other, or just enjoy all of them!

Photos of us

October 25, 2009 - 4:11 PM

Here are some more recent photos of our family. We've been doing soccer, playing with the cat and going to Colorado! We haven't really been doing anything too major, but I thought these were some nice pics of how our fam is doing.

This is Owen running after the ball. He just got done playing last week and we still aren't sure if he really liked it or not, but he acted like he did while he was playing.

Halftime!

Isaac loves picking up Max while he's sleeping and making him do things he doesn't normally do. Here he is saying "Dad, I have a question".

This was on our last trip to Colorado. This is the Bear Lake area, which holds some great bouldering over my right shoulder. That area is called Chaos Canyon. Can't wait to go there and climb in November.

Anyway, that's pretty much it. Hope you all are enjoying the more frequent posts.

New Workout

October 18, 2009 - 9:12 PM

I know, I know-TWO posts in one month? Ridiculous. Anyway, I thought I'd just start posting more often instead of waiting for something epic to come along to write about. This time it's about my new workout I'm doing. It's a mix of Ben Moons hangboard and a variation of a few others. Hard. This is a pic of the easiest hang.

Moon board

My plan is to do a finger strength workout M, W, F, and a boulder workout in my gym on T, TH. Hopefully my strength as well as my endurance will improve immensely! BTW, I got this from my in-laws about a year ago and I'm just now deciding to put it to full use. Welcome to my world.

I'm also very stoked to hear that my nephews, Nik and Steve are getting into bouldering! They have convinced their dad and mom to build them a wall in their garage!! WOOP! Let me know when that goes down cuz I wanna be there!

Anyways, that's it. Nothing major-just a heads-up!

PEACE

The Wave Wall rebuild

October 15, 2009 - 10:09 PM

After taking a trip to The Spot, in Boulder, I was energized to boulder really hard, so I decided to rebuild the far right section of the wall. I figured that I could bend some plywood and make a "wave", that would resemble a roof problem that comes into a slab for a nice top-out. It ended up to be a lot more work than what I had anticipated (duh!) as it always is, but I really enjoyed doing it so no time wasted, right? Following are pictures of start to finish of that section.

This is what it looked like previously, for about a year.

The wall starting to come apart.

This is what it looked like as I was building it. Very sturdy.

My window cleaning ladder snapped into a scaffold and became very handy.

I failed to get pics of how to cut the wood, but I just used a circular saw. This is the start of the wave!

I tried VERY hard to make two peices of 3/4 plywood work, but I just couldn't. It kept snapping and popping off the braces so I decided to scratch that idea and just go with one solid piece.

This was the next day. I told myself that I could do it in a Saturday, which might have happened if the first go at the plywood would have worked. The end of the next day I still wasn't finished.

The finished product! Also notice that I changed the roof into a 25 degree wall. I figured I'd use it more.

Cheers!
